CREATING A BRIGHTER FUTURE
The Sophie Gregoire Scholarship was established to honor the life and legacy of Sophie Gregoire while providing tuition assistance to dancers at DAL.
Each year, scholarships are awarded to dancers who demonstrate a genuine love of dance and embody the qualities this scholarship was created to celebrate: positivity, dedication, kindness, and respect for others. Scholarship funds are applied directly toward DAL tuition, helping dancers begin or continue their dance education within our community.
Through this scholarship, Sophie’s legacy continues by creating opportunities for dancers to learn, grow, and experience the joy of dance at DAL.
Scholarship applications open each year in early June and remain open through early August. Both new and returning DAL dancers are encouraged to apply.
About Sophie
Sophie Gregoire was the truest of friends, a beloved sister, a devoted student, and an absolutely unique and unforgettable person.
Everyone that had the pleasure to dance with, or simply just know Sophie, knew how fortunate they were.
You couldn't help but be filled with joy when you were in her presence.
Wherever she went, she created laughter and smiles with her hilarious comments, humorous facial expressions and perfect comedic timing.
Sophie was a role model even among her friends because of her confidence and charisma that was way beyond her years.
She was the class motivator, the voice of logic, the one who always remembered the dance, and the reason we will always untie our tap shoes at the end of class.
We feel honored to have had the privilege to watch Sophie grow up over the years into the amazing young woman she was.
We were always in awe of her artistry, not only in dance but also her drawing.
She could impress you with her sketches and then create sounds wit her tap shoes you didn't think were possible.
Sophie will be forever missed, and we are grateful for the time we has and the memories we created together.
Her memory will forever live within our studio and in the hearts of everyone that knew her.

The Annual Sophie Gregoire Scholarship Show
Each spring, around Sophie’s birthday, DAL hosts the annual Sophie Gregoire Scholarship Show in celebration of Sophie’s life and legacy. A selection of DAL dancers takes the stage for a special performance, with all proceeds from the event going directly to the Sophie Gregoire Scholarship Fund to provide tuition assistance for DAL dancers.
2026-2027 Scholarship Recipients
For the 2026–2027 season, the Sophie Gregoire Scholarship Fund proudly awarded $4,000 in tuition assistance to four DAL dancers. We are grateful to everyone who has supported the scholarship and helped us continue Sophie’s legacy by creating opportunities for dancers within our community.
